The Sony World Photography Awards is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious photo competitions and the 2021 edition closes soon! Celebrating the very best in contemporary imagery from the past year, the Awards welcome entries from photographers who are based all over the globe, at different skill levels or experience and capture their images on any device!
Now in its fourteenth year, the Awards saw 350,000 images entered last year from 203 countries and territories, helping to give a vibrant insight into the photographic medium today. Photographers around the globe still have time to submit their best work FOR FREE to the Awards’ Professional and Open competitions.
The Professional competition – which closes on the 14th January at 13:00 (GMT) – recognises outstanding photo series consisting of five to ten images and has ten categories photographers can enter. Photographers can enter all ten categories (the series submitted must be different) for free. Many might be interested in the Portfolio category. New for this year, Portfolio welcomes five to ten images not related in subject matter or narrative, making this the perfect category for those who haven’t had the opportunity to work on a full photo project this year. Photographer of the Year wins $25,000, a range of Sony digital kit plus global exposure.
