While some artists are keeping a very traditional approach to art, others are taking risks into the unknown and there has always been a constant debate about “What Is Art” and what makes it valuable. 

In contemporary world success can be seen in both approaches, great examples are Damien Hirst and David Hockney, two of the worlds most famous and richest artists and yet with such a different approach to contemporary art. 

The purpose of this exhibition is to create a dialogue between different approaches to contemporary art and to demonstrate that either way can be successful. 

This Exhibition Will Take Place At Our Newly Opened Space In Tower Bridge. 

The new space is located in Tower bridge, one of most iconic places in the world and the most visited place in the whole UK. 

The space is nestled between modern and classic London icons: The Shard 4 minutes away, Tower Bridge 1 minute away, London Bridge 2 minutes away. 

With a blend of traditional Victorian brick walls and a central private bar just for our audience, the space is unique in the whole city of London. 

Important dates: 

- the open call will run until 02 November. 
- artworks delivery date is 11 November. 
- the exhibition will run from 12 November until 18 November with a private view on 12 November- 6:00 to 9:00 pm at our gallery space in Tower Bridge London. 

Alternatives. 

We had a lot of enquires from foreign artists to exhibit with us but sometimes shipping the work to London in time might be a bit difficult in this challenging period, that’s why we’ve come up with an alternative! If you are one of the accepted artist and you find it hard to ship your work to us, you can send us photos of your work and we can print and frame it for you at no additional cost. 

We have 3 available sizes for the frame: 

1. 32/32 cm
2. 30/40 cm 
3. 40/50 cm

Norfolk County Council (UK) is looking to award five commissions of up to £60,000 for dynamic new artworks to form the Norfolk Way Art Trail, a brand new outdoor public art trail spanning 250 miles of Norfolk, England.

Design a multi-sensory, accessible public artwork that will engage local communities, reveal hidden stories and inspire visitors to explore Norfolk County between off-peak season October-March. There are five locations to choose from, you can submit up to two ideas and the opportunity is open to artists WORLDWIDE. The Spudnik Press Cooperative Residency Program supports a broad range of artists including artists working in communities outside of the Chicago area. Resident Artists will bring new resources, perspectives, and professional connections to the various audiences that Spudnik Press serves, including first-time printmaking students, emerging artists, professional artists, art collectors and supporters.

Through integrating the production of innovative and well-executed print-based work with public programming and educational opportunities, the Residency Program strives to increase public awareness and appreciation of printmaking and its role in contemporary art practices.

Artists can apply for residencies of 2 to 6 weeks in duration, local artists are encouraged to apply for the maximum time.

Spudnik Press Cooperative encourages applications from artists from all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups that include (but are not limited to) artists of color, LGBTQ artists, women artists, and artists with disabilities. Our Accessibility page includes additional information about getting to the studio and using the equipment. Any requests for accommodations can occur upon finalist notification or acceptance.

CURATORIAL RESEARCH RESIDENCIES IN BERLIN FOR EMERGING CURATORS AND CULTURAL PRACTITIONERS BASED IN THE AFRICAN CONTINENT

As part of the programme TURN2 - Artistic Co-Creation between Germany and African Countries, the Federal Cultural Foundation launched the TURN2 Residencies - Curatorial Research Residencies in Berlin, Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg in April 2021. 

In September 2021, the open call for emerging curators based in the African continent coming to ZK/U Berlin goes into the second round. For curators based in Germany, there will be no second open call.

This call invites emerging curators in the contemporary visual arts or with a cross-disciplinary approach and cultural practitioners with a curatorial interest based in the African continent, to undertake a funded 3-month residency at ZK/U Berlin. The residencies will take place between April 2022 and December 2022 (exact dates to be finalised in consultation between the host and each selected candidate). 

In the first round of the open call in April 2021, an expert jury selected six emerging curators from the African continent to conduct research at ZK/U Berlin between September 2021 and March 2022. Simultaneously, nine emerging curators from Germany were selected to conduct curatorial research in Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg.

The TURN2 Residencies promote the initiation of curatorial partnerships and transcontinental networks between emerging curators and established art and cultural institutions as well as the exchange between the respective art scenes. The TURN2 Residencies are a joint project of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation), the ZK/U Berlin and the Triangle Network, and are carried out in collaboration with the Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute (NCAI), the G.A.S. Foundation in Lagos and the Bag Factory in Johannesburg.

Pluritopia is inviting you to join Cloud Studios, a virtual art studio dedicated to online dialogue, collaboration and experimentation. In Cloud Studios, participants from Singapore and Korea can take a glimpse into the possibilities for future online remote artistic practices, and collaboration beyond the post-pandemic world. 
Following Cloud Studios, there will be a Collaborative Artwork where Singaporean participants will work together with their counterparts in Korea to create a Cloud-based artwork in 2022.

Curatorial group Kollektiv Kollektiv is calling for entries: Submit your images to create an «image library» on the topic of (digital) community.

In relation to last years’ events, the question of community is more important than ever. Under the restrictions people experienced, our desire for community has increased. At the same time, it seems to be the right moment to critique previous forms of being together. In this sense, the exhibition series «Communitas» – curated by Kollektiv Kollektiv (www.kollektivkollektiv.ch) at the Kunsthaus Steffisburg (www.kunsthaus-steffisburg.ch) – examines different modes of community and puts them to the test in various projects and events. For their third project «Communitas III: Digitale Gemeinschaft» (Digital Community) the curatorial group calls for participation: Dear artists, let’s create an image library together!

The aim is to create an international online platform (under construction) with your artworks and images on the topic of community. A selection of these images will be shown in an immersive exhibition at the Kunsthaus Steffisburg (07.11.–04.12.2021) and probably at other collaborating art spaces around the world. The concept is based on the idea of «Movie-Dromes» by Stan Vanderbeek (1927–1984). The experimental filmmaker and early computer artist saw the «Movie-Dromes» as part of a decentralised network of autonomous communities. Inside the dome viewers could watch a flow of images drawn from a global image library.

Kollektiv Kollektiv is interested in your ideas: What do community and collaboration mean to you? How do you experience different forms of social communities? How is it expressed in your work? What is your definition of a digital community? What changes have you been observing in the last year?

Original Magazine

Original Magazine is excited to share with you all our first physical exhibition opportunity for all artists from across all levels whether you are a student, emerging freelance creative or a working professional in the industry. We want to hear and see your work! 

The Open Call has no specific theme and encourages artists and creatives from across all disciplines to enter and participate for the chance to exhibit their work in a thriving part of London, at the fantastic space that is the Photo Book Cafe.

10 creatives will be chosen to exhibit their work at an alternative space hosted at the Photo Book Cafe, London. Amongst the selected 10 artists; there will be 3 winners of a ¬£125.00 voucher to be used at Rapid Eye Darkroom.

For your submission to be considered for this Open Call, Original Magazine requires you to submit 5 - 10 images via WeTransfer or email (video and audio accepted but still images must accompany any footage submitted due to the nature of the exhibition). This also applies to submissions from creative designers, architects, sculptors etc.
Please ensure to send your images at 300DPI.

Along with your work please ensure you have a title, short bio and synopsis describing your project for us to accompany the images; along with your website and social media handles. This is important and without this your submission will simply not be accepted.

We will give priority to woman artists with at least B.A. Fine Art Degree who had a solid track record of working hard and exhibiting over the years. Who's work is in important collections and who show that they are here to stay.

We will also give priority to women artists that belong to more than one culture due to parents, birth, migration, travel...

Everybody can apply. If selected, there are some exhibition fees, listed below that you will be asked to pay in the 3 days after our positive answer. If your works are sold, the fees will be returned to you. In the opposite case we will donate them to charity, governmental art institutions in Asia that we support. Preference will be given to those works that are bigger in size, more valuable and numerous.
