Besides the exhibition, the Tape Art Convention (www.tapeartconvention.com) focuses on the interaction of artists and visitors. You are interested in Tape Art and want to create your own tape artwork? To get you started we have organised tape art workshops with each of them being instructed by different artists of the tape art convention. In each of these workshops we will teach you the most important techniques and offer a wide range of working materials. These workshops are made for people who already have an artistic background or education as well as for total newbies, who want to spend a creative day in Berlin and get inspired. Maybe you want to create an artwork as a present or create a sign for you shop, café or bar? Whatever you want to create we will support you with our experience and help you make it a good and durable piece.
This tape art workshop, which takes place on 23th of October 2016, will be instructed by Tape That:
"Inspired by the possibility to create something new out of an everyday object, TAPE THAT mostly works with tape as a medium since 2011. With roots in the urban art movement, our works range from complex and colorful tape and light installations to minimalist black and white murals. Our fascination for tape art lies in the combination of endless creative possibilities and the natural limitations that one has to deal with while working with tape. We constantly challenged and inspired by the different characteristics of this medium, and the ways in which it influences our creative process.
Apart from creating tape artworks of their own, we also teach this art form in tape art workshops on a national and international basis. In these workshops individuals learn about the history of tape art and common techniques used in order to create tape artworks. Most importantly, our tape art workshops aim at unfolding participants’ creative selves with an ordinary everyday object such as adhesive tape.
Our workshop starts with a short presentation about tape art, tape art techniques and styles. We support participants on each step of this creative process. During the creation of the drafts, we supervise participants in how to draft a tape artwork, considering the limitations and possibilities adhesive tape gives individuals in the creation of an artwork. During the process of putting ideas and drafts into practice, we will advise individuals in how to apply tape on the surface in such a way that best represents the creative intentions of the participants."
