OPEN CALL FOR PERFORMANCE / LIVE ARTWORKS – CIRCLE1 GALLERY, BERLIN, Germany
Artists should not be oblivious to changes in politics, finance, education, and most of them indeed take a stand, purposely or unintentionally. As a result, some questions arise:
• Should art reflect and criticize the world, or remain a sanctuary of an inner discourse?
• How can art touch reality (whatever it might mean without becoming shallow?
• How can a performative act suggest a relevant, communicative, meaningful happening, without becoming pure entertainment for those who do not have time, money or energy?
• Can it touch reality, yet remain “artistic”?
We would love to hear your thoughts and contemplation, through a proposal for a one-evening performance. You can be one person or a group, and use different types of live art. We prefer works that use surprising means and methods, to practices that use traditional perceptions of thinking. Incorporative, multidisciplinary, humorous works, and those, which aims to relate to concrete subjects, are preferred.
Please note, we are an artist-run space; therefore, unfortunately, we cannot offer a budget, but we will provide PR, drinks, and modest technical help. The gallery space is large, beautiful, and nicely located. There is also the possibility to sell tickets, if appropriate and suitable.
Email address: email@example.com - PLEASE DO NOT WRITE DIRECTLY TO THE GALLERY EMAIL ADDRESS. We will write back to individuals whom we would like to continue.
