DOUBLE-BLIND is a dialogue based international exchange programme, which offers a platform
for two different artistic concepts/approaches to confront, collide and interact with each other.
Here, exchange does not imply direct meeting, negotiation or collaborative presentation, but rather
being confronted with a concept of a fellow exchange partner, without even knowing who she or he is, and from which social, aesthetic, national or ethical background the artistic concept derives.
An experiment about both, entrusting one’s own concept to another artist to be used as a score, and exploring a foreign concept as a challenge for one’s own artistic work.
How it works:
SAVVY Contemporary expects applicants to send in a concept, a score of a performance planned or in preparation, or a documentation of a past performance.
Once selected, the artist will give away their concept and receive a concept of a fellow artist, without meeting each other until the final presentation. Both artists will have 3 weeks at SAVVY Contemporary rehearsal space to work on their presentations.
The presentation will include a double performance with consequent panel discussion. The artists will finally meet the initiators of the original concepts they have been working on, and watch their own concepts interpreted and performed by the experiment partners.
Artists will be provided a working space and technical support.
Examination and assessment of the submitted proposals will be carried out with the support of the interdisciplinary advisory board of SAVVY Contemporary.
Performance dates: May 2014 (first issue)
Application deadline: March 15, 2014
