International Contemporary Art Open Call

The space between becomes a field of possibilities.

ORAC Gallery invites artists worldwide to submit works for MINORIA — OPEN FIELD, a ten-day contemporary art exhibition taking place from 22 to 31 January 2027 at Nowolipki 27, Warsaw, Poland.

Conceived and curated by Monika Turczyńska, OPEN FIELD inaugurates the Warsaw programme of MINORIA for 2027, continuing a curatorial investigation developed through successive exhibitions in Venice and presentations in Chicago during 2026.

The curatorial invitation

An open field is not an empty space waiting to be filled. It is a space in which relationships have not yet been determined.

OPEN FIELD brings distinct artistic languages into relation without asking them to become alike. Each work enters with its own history, materiality and rhythm. Through proximity, contrast and unexpected affinities, the exhibition makes room for meanings that may not be apparent when a work is encountered alone.

The exhibition is not simply the sum of its works. It is also what happens between them.

Artists are not required to illustrate a prescribed theme, create new work specifically for the exhibition or explain why their practice fits its title. Existing works and unexpected approaches are welcome. An artist statement may offer context, but it is optional: the responsibility for discovering and articulating relationships belongs to the curator.

Who can apply?

The open call welcomes emerging and established artists aged 18 and over, based anywhere in the world.

Eligible media include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, installation, video and digital art. Works requiring specialist equipment, complex installation or unusual handling will be considered subject to the gallery’s spatial and technical capacity.

Each application may include up to three artworks. Applicants should provide preview images, artwork details, a short biography and contact information. Video submissions should include an accessible preview link. A formal CV, motivation letter and thematic justification are not required.

Selection will consider artistic quality, originality, technical feasibility and the relationships that may emerge within the exhibition.

What selected artists receive

Selected artists participate in a curated physical exhibition at ORAC Gallery in Warsaw. The gallery provides exhibition space, curatorial preparation, standard installation coordination, artwork labels and photographic documentation of the exhibition.

There are no additional exhibition, gallery space or curatorial fees for selected artists.

Artists are responsible for artwork delivery and collection, suitable packaging and any applicable shipping or customs costs. Framing, fabrication, specialist equipment and non-standard installation requirements must be agreed in advance. Personal attendance is optional; travel and accommodation are not covered.

Each fee covers the submission and curatorial review of up to three works. Both fee levels offer the same selection criteria and participation conditions. Payment does not guarantee selection. This is a curated exhibition open call, with no cash prize or guarantee of sales or future representation.
