Overview

The Milwaukee Youth Arts Center (MYAC) elevates the youth arts education experience for young people, families, and communities in the metro Milwaukee area and surrounding region. Established in 2005, it is the home of partner organizations First Stage and the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO), and is a convener for many other youth performing arts and education organizations. MYAC has established itself as a facilitator of relationships among thousands of young people and families who otherwise would not have had the chance to meet, collaborate, and grow. Over the years, the programming that comes to life at MYAC has grown exponentially, resulting in MYAC expanding and reinvesting in its facilities. MYAC is poised to participate in and lead a larger vision for its neighborhood and community.

To lead this continued growth and transformation, MYAC is hiring an Executive Director (ED) who is a passionate advocate for the magic MYAC creates. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will lead a collaborative development effort and execute a strategy to maintain an outstanding environment that supports First Stage and MYSO while offering greater opportunities to other community partners in the arts and education. To enable growth and increase impact, the ED will lead the next phase of an already-successful capital campaign that will further explore facility expansion for additional programming. The ED also will manage and grow a newly-expanded reserve fund to cement a more sustainable future for MYAC.

The ED will be a collaborative, visionary leader for numerous stakeholder groups. In the community, the ED will help strengthen MYAC’s identity, helping tell the success story of the organization and its partners. Within the donor community, the ED will communicate and foster a greater understanding of MYAC’s unique value, and continue to connect supporters and prospects to its partners’ programs. In the larger community, the ED will seek strategic partners and opportunities to increase rental revenue. Within the organization, the ED will lead the MYAC staff and work in collaboration with First Stage and MYSO to maintain the historically strong integration of the three organizations.

Integral to MYAC's mission is ensuring that under-served populations have access to high-quality arts education. In accordance with that mission, MYAC's artistic partners offer scholarship opportunities and have active community engagement programs. No child has ever turned away from MYAC's partner programs due to an inability to pay. MYAC and its partner organizations strongly believe that every child should have access to arts education programs.
