Overview

MINORIA — LATENT

International Photography & Digital Art Open Call | Venice 2027

What remains invisible before an image comes into being?

A Space Gallery invites photographers and digital artists from around the world to participate in MINORIA — LATENT, an international curated exhibition taking place on 9–10 January 2027 in the historic Castello district of Venice, Italy.

Conceived and curated by Monika Turczyńska, LATENT explores the hidden dimensions of images — traces of presence, suspended memories, emerging forms and the subtle relationships between what is visible and what remains concealed.

In traditional photography, the latent image exists before becoming visible. Within MINORIA, this phenomenon becomes a broader artistic metaphor: an invitation to explore the moment when something not yet perceived begins to reveal itself.

The exhibition welcomes photography, photomontage, digital collage and still digital artworks. Artists are encouraged to approach the theme through their own visual languages, whether figurative, conceptual, experimental or abstract.

An evolving international curatorial programme

MINORIA is an ongoing international artistic and curatorial programme founded by Monika Turczyńska and developed through successive exhibitions and artistic presentations throughout 2026.

Following chapters in Venice and presentations in Chicago, the programme continues with a planned presentation at CONTEXT Art Miami in December 2026.

Each chapter investigates the space between perception, material, memory and artistic expression. LATENT opens a new dimension of this exploration, focusing on images as carriers of meanings that are not immediately visible.

An exhibition without borders

A Space Gallery has developed a presentation format allowing artists to participate internationally without the logistical and financial challenges of shipping physical artworks.

Up to 12 artists will be selected. One work by each selected artist will be professionally printed locally in Venice and presented in the gallery.

The exhibition includes:

  • A curated physical exhibition at A Space Gallery, Venice.

  • One locally produced photographic print per selected artist, on a 30 × 40 cm sheet.

  • Professional exhibition installation and artwork identification.

  • Inclusion in the online exhibition presentation and PDF catalogue.

  • Photographic documentation of the exhibition.

There are no additional exhibition, printing or installation fees for selected artists. Physical attendance is optional, and no artwork shipping is required.

Who can apply?

The open call welcomes emerging and established artists aged 18 and over, regardless of nationality or country of residence.

Each application may include up to three works. Selection will consider artistic quality, originality, relevance to the curatorial concept and suitability for the exhibition format.

Entirely AI-generated images are not eligible. Any AI-assisted processes must be disclosed.
