houston poetry+film collaborations 2023

Aurora Picture Show and Public Poetry join together to present an exciting project fusing words and moving images. Location: Houston will pair poets and filmmakers to produce original “filmpoems” relating to people, places, and experiences specific to Houston, Texas. Poets and film/video artists who reside in the greater Houston area may submit work to be considered for this project (Deadline: October 19, 2022). Five poets and five filmmakers will be selected to participate, and will then be paired to collaboratively create an original “filmpoem” up to 5 minutes in length. Each selected artist will receive a fee of $250, the films will be produced Nov. 1, 2022 – Jan. 9, 2023, and they will premiere at Aurora February 24, 2023 as part of the annual REELpoetry film festival.
