2022 annual national open juried exhibition
JUROR OF SELECTION AND AWARDS Lisa Hayes Williams- Associate Curator, New Britain Museum of American Art New Britain, CT. Prior to joining the New Britain Museum, she worked at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and, David Zwirner Gallery as an Exhibitions and Research Associate.
OUR ORGANIZATION Connecticut Women Artists (CWA) was founded in 1929, when 20 women artists exhibited at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford. Since exhibition opportunities were rare for women at that time, they started a society of female artists. As one of this country’s oldest continuing art organizations for women, CWA now has over 150 elected members. Because CWA does not own its own gallery, the organization is able to choose from among other noteworthy Connecticut venues in which to hold their exhibits.
CALENDAR – Time-line of events:
- Deadline for entry: work must be submitted to the online service by Thursday, September 1, 2022 before Midnight.
- Juror selections available online (www.onlinejuriedshows.com) by Friday, September 16, 2022
- All selected work must be accompanied by the artist’s signed disclaimer when dropped off or shipped. See disclaimer after shipping info later in prospectus.
- Delivery of shipped artwork: Selected work must arrive between Saturday, September 17 and Thursday, October 6.
- Drop off of artwork: Monday, October 10, 6-8 pm, and Tuesday, October 11, 10 am-12 pm.
- Opening Reception and Award Ceremony: Saturday, October 22, 2-4 pm.
- Pickup of artwork: Sunday, November 13, 6-8 pm and Monday, November 14, 10 am - 12 pm.
The size limit for two-dimensional work is 42” wide and 60” in height (including frame) with a maximum weight of 35 lbs. The sculpture (3D) weight limit is 50 lbs.
-Work submitted must not have been shown in any previous juried CWA shows and must have been completed within the last 4 years.
-Original work in painting, mixed media, drawing, collage, printmaking, fiber art, photography, and sculpture is eligible. Photomechanical reproductions of original work (giclee prints) are not eligible.
