Accent Accent was founded in 2018 in New York City as a bilingual bookstore, gallery, and literary organization. Our core mission is supporting diasporic writers who are working seriously in their second language — navigating between English and another tongue, building a literary life in a culture that wasn't their first. This is a community that often falls through the cracks of mainstream writing institutions, and it is the community we are most committed to. We operate two physical spaces in Union Square and Long Island City, and serve as active cultural venues for readings, talks, exhibitions, and classes.
Accent Academy is our education arm — a rigorous and genuinely caring space where writers can explore urgent questions of language, identity, and form, build strong work, and find lasting literary community. We also actively introduce English-language writers to Chinese readerships; several writers who have taught or participated in Accent programs have since had their books translated into Chinese.
Our Writing Club series is presented in collaboration with MoMA, and we have produced public programs with the Met, AAWW, the Asian American Arts Alliance, the High Line, Poetry Society of New York, Asia Society and NYPL.
Accent handles all promotion, registration, bilingual outreach (English/Chinese), technical support, and post-event distribution. Our audience includes serious emerging writers, translators, editors, and cultural workers across the U.S., China, and the broader global diaspora.
Accent Sisters is currently determining its Master Class / workshop schedule for the coming months and would be deeply honored to explore a collaboration in any of the following forms —whatever feels most alive to you right now:
Option 1 — 4-9 Week Workshop
Duration: 2.5 hours per session
Class size: 6–20 students (a workshop runs with a minimum of 6 enrolled students)
Tuition: USD $150–$800 per student (open to discussion)

Option 2 — One-Off Masterclass / Craft Talk / Artist Talk / Lecture Performance
Duration: 90 minutes
Format: Entirely up to you — a reading with craft commentary, a talk on writing across forms and media, a lecture-performance, or something that doesn't fit any of those categories
Compensation: $200 USD
