The Dōshi Gallery Juried Exhibition, What Remains, asks artists to explore the theme of memory, whether conceptually or through medium and technique.
Memory shapes our understanding of ourselves, others, and the world around us. Our memories can be deeply personal. They can also be shared, connecting us to family histories and cultural traditions. Through these connections, memories can preserve a sense of identity, belonging, and joy across generations. Conversely, our recollections can change over time. What we believe we remember may differ from what actually occurred. What we recall, and what is left out, can shape how we understand the past and the present.
What Remains invites applicants to contemplate how memory is preserved, altered, or lost, and what these processes reveal about our individual and collective experiences.
