EOI Call Out: Integrated Station Graphics | METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal

Public Transport Authority and contractor Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance are looking to commission a series of graphic treatments applied to a range of architectural surfaces across five stations along the METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project (LXR). The LXR Project aims to build new stations and revitalise precincts along the inner Armadale Line.

Each of the five stations will incorporate a graphic treatment applied to architectural surfaces in-situ. Designs, patterns, graphics and/or text may be applied to glazing or other surfaces. One artist will be commissioned to respond to this opportunity across all five stations. This is a Design & Construct opportunity.

Additionally, Cannington Station has been identified as an opportunity for a dynamic artwork application to the screens enveloping the station building and platform. Perforated screens will enhance the east and west side of the station building, creating a visible landmark on approach from Cecil Ave.The screen artwork will create a focus point to contribute to Cannington Station’s identity. This is a Design-Only artwork opportunity.

This EOI is seeking one artist/artist team for two opportunities: Linewide Platform Graphics - a design & construct (D&C) linewide response, and Cannington Station Screens - a design-only opportunity.

Public art will become a visual showcase that anchors each station in the LXR Project and unites the broader METRONET program. The intention of this artwork opportunity is to engage the public, encourage discovery, enhance the experience of the stations, tell stories of place and culture, and create connections across the railway line.

LOCATION: Carlisle Station, Oats Street Station, Queens Park Station, Cannington Station, Beckenham Station (all stations are located in Perth, Western Australia)

INSTALL DATES: mid-late 2025 (estimated).

BUDGET: Platform Graphics: AUD$250,000 ex GST (D+C)

Cannington Screens: AUD$30,000 ex GST (Design Only)

Shortlisted artists will receive AUD$4,000 on completion of Concept Design proposal (for both opportunities)
