The artworks are filled with experience and mistakes. The work is layered, then torn away, revealing its history, telling a story as the search for the final composition continues, and old mistakes reveal themselves as new moments. These moments are the scars that define our story and in this case shape the final composition.

Cara Bravo 

The truck jostles and my mother’s dog, Jake, climbs over her shoulder – sniffing the air to check perimeters. She chose him earlier that year because he had her younger brother’s eyes; Even though Uncle Sonny passed 12 years ago, I can see the resemblance. My dad pulls into a gas station before our drive southeast to Corpus Christi. I take the opportunity to stretch my legs, passing a young man quietly strumming his guitar. A long sleek dog, who seemingly just had a litter of puppies, was his audience of one. After delivering bottled waters to the back seat, I return with a camera and friendly handshake– His hand were calloused and oil stained, with a gentle grip that matched my own. I remark on the dog’s beauty and if he would like their portrait; “A” looks down with a caring smile as he said, “Sure. She’s not my dog– we just sort of found each other”.

Photographic work on the Daubenhorn in Leukerbad, Valais.

The climate crisis, which is at the heart of human concerns, is changing the Swiss Alps. Temperatures are rising, glaciers are melting and the thawing of the permafrost is compromising the stability of the mountain ranges. According to the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), 6 to 8% of Switzerland is unstable. Settlements underneath permafrost zones can expect landslides and mudslides in the coming years.

The basis of the work "Matters" is a series of photographs dealing with the theme of the mountains, which are strongly affected by climate change and are transforming the Swiss Alpine landscape.

  
The rock face of the Daubenhorn in Leukerbad, photographed by the artist during a residency on the spot, is a recurring theme for the artist. "I was able to observe the rock face throughout the seasons and I realised that the mountain makes sounds throughout the year and resonates in the basin occupied by Leukerbad. The mountain changes, crumbles, and often in the winter undergoes large avalanches thus providing the music of the landscape. The work done on the Matters series is a poetic and sometimes frightening image of the mountain that disappears and crumbles little by little to finally show the substance of the rock face.

  
Pictorially, the digital treatment of the photograph, makes a work suggesting the pictorial work of the artist, it is no longer the painting which wants to reproduce a photograph but well and truly the photograph which evokes a pictorial gesture. The spectator is borrowed in front of the work not knowing if it is a work in ink or a photograph where the essence of the rock is cracked by the digital act (some pixels are selected and erased to suggest the degradation of the rock).
  
  

Matters

Generative art that explores different forms of spatial dimensions. My concept was to focus on altering images generating suggestive, contiguous movement that starts from darkness. I made a series of images that combine my current interests and technical abilities, incorporating generative art and photography. The work aims to experiment through coded images that create pulsating structures mapped in non gravitational matter.

Space Exploration

Part of a series of paintings of old women doing mundane tasks in rooms towards the end of their lives.

This painting is based off of a found photo. The photo depicts what appears to be a man tossing a baby in the air. By painting this moment, the artist brings out a sense of emotional tension and ambiguity, attempting to dive under the surface of the original image.
