Every day, we’re surrounded by things we don’t really need… but somehow, they shape how we live. I wanted to capture that in my series and in this painting, how consumption influences our lives, often without us noticing.

Sweet and Creamy

The essence of a quick meal: instant ramen. The vibrant colors and textures reflect the joy these noodles supposedly bring to your daily life.

This painting reflects the contradictions within our society. On one hand, we’re expected to be slim and health-conscious and on the other, we’re constantly bombarded by advertising that encourages us to consume junk food and sweets. This tension often leads to confusion and a sense of overwhelm.

It is often in a fleeting moment that we no longer recognize what has drawn us in. And yet, we allow ourselves to be guided by the outside world. As if on autopilot, moving without questioning.

This painting is inspired by the ordinary beauty of everyday life and by the vibrant, structured chaos found in supermarket shelves. I’m fascinated by how mass-produced objects, like juice bottles, create accidental compositions of color, shape, and repetition.

  
It’s a reflection on consumer culture, choice overload, and the strangely intimate relationship we have with packaging and branding. By translating this common scene into oil on canvas, I aim to elevate the mundane into something worth pausing for. A still life of modern life.

A fleeting moment, a sudden craving — and there we are, standing in a kiosk in front of a shelf filled with brightly colored packaging, ready to tear it open and consume it. But how did this desire arise in the first place? What tempted us? Is it true longing, or merely the influence of the media that surrounds us? These are the questions I explored and observed during the creation of this painting.
