comics beyond: live comic performances in europe
The call for live comics shows! The opportunity for European artists to develop comics on stage projects as duos and tour around Europe!
“Comics beyond” is an European project with the objective of strengthening the employability of European comics artists, who suffer from a precarious situation; very few of them manage to develop their careers and make a living from their artistic activity. They lack networking spaces, continuous training and development of new skills that would allow them to expand their professional and creative activity, at different scales.
Comics Beyond looks for four live comics shows created by duos to support and present during its partners events! “Live comics shows” refers to projects combining comics and performing arts, with the aim of being presented internationally.
Each selected live comics show’s narration has to overcome the language barrier: the narration needs to be done with the fewest words possible.
Each duo is asked to send one application per project.
Any person that lives and in one of the 27 EU Member States: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
+ United Kingdom, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Tunisia, Armenia, Kosovo, Liechtenstein.
Applicants need to have a good level of English. Duos can be made of two people living in different countries.
If selected, each selected duo will receive:
- A 3,000 EUR fee
- An artistic and technic follow-up of the project done by a partner for each duo
- Have their show programmed twice, once as part of the partner’s event and once in another event
- Take part in the kick-off meeting at Napoli ComiCon in April 2025 (for the first live comics show representation)
- Travel costs, accommodation costs and subsistence costs covered (to present the live comics shows as part of the project)
To complete the application, each duo must fill out the form you will find below and prepare:
- a high level overview of the project in 5 lines
- a motivation letter
- two curriculums and/or portfolios
- a provisional list of their technical needs / a technical rider
- a production and performance budget proposal
- a provisional calendar
- if applicable: a proof of copyrights or any other document
