sound mind music festival for mental health

On May 20, 2023 Sound Mind’s 5th Annual Music Festival for Mental Health will bring together local as well as national touring artists, leading mental health organizations, and the local community to catalyze action and a sense of hope and healing around mental health. The full-day street festival will be hosted at the corner of Jefferson and Wykoff in Brooklyn, New York in partnership with House of Yes and Absurd Conclave.

The Sound Mind Music Festival for Mental Health is now accepting submissions from artists in a variety of mediums and modalities - from 2D or 3D visual art, large-scale murals, sculpture, temporal work, installation, and projections, - to transform the street into a public art experience. The Sound Mind Team aims to curate work that contributes to or reflects the meaningful juxtaposition of Brooklyn’s dynamic multicultural neighborhood communities and compelling, radical, relevant contemporary artwork.

We are looking for artwork that embodies mental health and encapsulates the experience of living with mental illness. We are especially looking to feature artists with lived experience with mental illness. Artists can draw upon the joys of recovery, finding community, and living openly for inspiration. We look forward to seeing and hearing your interpretations of this theme and to reviewing your work through the lens of all of its meanings.
