Genius Loci Weimar is looking for innovative ideas for the Facade Project Festival on 30th August to 1st of September 2024.

Applicants have until the 29th of May to apply with a 30-second video clip outlining the central design concept for the projection of one of the following locations:

Stelenweg Reliefs / Stele Path Reliefs

Straße der Nationen / Street of Nations

Glockenturm / Bell Tower

The competition will focus on video mapping performance art, but also on the topics of populism, remembrance culture, illumination and staging in the context of memorials. The winning artist will receive prize money for the production of the audiovisual content, which will be presented during the festival as video mapping, light or audio installations on the respective façade and at the respective location.

The most important requirements for the Genius Loci Weimar Competition are:

• Innovative design in the form of an audio-visual video mapping, with particular observance paid to the Genius Loci.

• Individual, original and sophisticated handling of the spirit of the location with respect to the history and architecture.

• The deliberate omission of erratic gimmickry and showmanship, intrusive clichés and careless historical retelling.
