artist residency

Thank you for your interest in becoming part of the Künstlerhaus Bethanien community! We offer international artists the opportunity to live and work in Berlin through our International Studio Programme. Our residencies provide space, time, and support for artistic development, experimentation, and exchange.

Direct Applications to Künstlerhaus Bethanien

While we offer applications through various partner organisations, we also warmly welcome direct applications from artists. We partner on a project-by-project basis with other foundations, and institutions that are not permanently linked to us.

These partners run their own open calls, to which you can submit your application independently. If your profile fits our criteria, we will provide you with a Letter of Interest and a detailed cost breakdown to support your funding application.

Duration of stay:

variable, depending on availability and project needs (typically 6–12 months, with a minimum of 3 months).

When to apply?

There is no fixed deadline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

If your proposal resonates with our curatorial direction and thematic focus, we may issue a Letter of Interest, which can support your search for external funding.
