2027 international exchanges and travel grants

The purpose of the Swedish Arts Council's grants for international exchanges and travel is to support artists' opportunities to create, develop and deepen contacts abroad. The grant includes grants for international exchange and travel abroad as well as international exchange in Sweden.

You can apply for a grant to invite foreign artists to Sweden for collaborations and exchanges. The core should be the applicant's exchange of the collaboration, but it is also possible to apply for exchanges where more artists in Sweden can benefit from the invited artists' experiences and knowledge. Institutions and organizers cannot receive grants to invite foreign artists to events; the grants relate to artist-initiated exchanges. The exchange can, for example, involve joint work over a continuous period of time.

What costs can you apply for?
You can mainly apply for grants to cover the invited foreign artists' travel and living costs. In some cases, grants can also be given for renting premises where the collaboration takes place.
If the exchange is to be carried out within the framework of a Swedish institution's activities, the institution will pay for the exchange. Grants for production costs, own fees or salaries are not given.
