Overview

VISION: Our goal is for everyone to grow throughout their time with us, whatever stage an artist is in when they arrive. At Silver Art, growth translates into expanding practice and amplifying impact. For up to 10 months each year, artists in the cohort can devote resources to creating new and different artworks without the impediment of the expense of studio space in New York City. In addition to the free studio space, artists are connected through Silver Art's programming, to curators, artists' peers, mentors, arts professionals, collectors, and thought-leaders.

SELECTION PROCESS: We assembled a committee of curators, artist mentors, social justice visionaries, and activists to review the applicants and select Silver Art's 2022 cohort.

INFORMATION AND CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE YOU APPLY: *The studios are on the entire 28th floor of 4 World trade center and are spectacular! *The World Trade Center site and building require extensive security measures for access due to the history of the events of 9/11. Access for artists is 24/ with key cards to artists only. Access for each and every visitor must be submitted in advance to Silver Art staff to be put into the building security system. The movement of objects is restricted to controlled areas of freight or messenger elevators and operating hours are Monday through Friday. No pets are allowed. *Silver Art Projects, as a service to the artists and the organization, hosts and arranges periodic visits and tours of the studio spaces. Formal open studio days will be scheduled to connect artists with various people including Curators, Arts Professionals, Artist Peers, Press, Philanthropists, and Collectors. *Sculptural practice is possible, however, there are no facilities for woodworking, casting, no heavy power tools, or separate fabrication areas. *Artists are responsible for their own travel, housing, and living expenses. Silver Art Project can not sponsor visas for international artists and these must be obtained by the artist.

*No criteria restrictions to apply, other than you cannot be currently enrolled in school as an undergraduate or graduate student during the time of the residency.
