For the third year, the Narva Art Residency, in cooperation with the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre, is announcing a competition for children’s literature residencies. The program offers one writer and one illustrator the opportunity to dedicate themselves to their work in the unique environment of Narva. 

  
The aim of the residency program is to support children’s authors and illustrators. It offers creators the opportunity to work in Narva, discover the city from a new perspective, and focus on the manuscript or illustrations of a new book. During the residency, authors are encouraged to meet and/or engage with young people and children living in this border town, introducing them to the enchanting world of literature and illustration.

The selected residents will be invited to Narva in September and October of 2025 (1.09–30.09.2025 and 15.09–15.10.2025), where they will be provided with accommodation at the Narva Art Residency, along with support in exploring the local cultural context.

  
The total scholarship fund is 3,000 euros, with 1,500 euros allocated to each selected author.

Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Residency

The Narva Art Residency (NART), in collaboration with the Narva municipality’s department of architecture and urban planning (ALPA), is launching its second open call for a large-scale public art installation or sculpture in Narva, Estonia. This year it will be placed near the Narva Town Hall building, adjacent to Stockholm square. The installation will also serve as a platform for outdoor exhibitions, offering opportunities to engage and highlight various communities in Narva.

  
NART will host the selected artist in Narva for a one-month residency from 15 August to 14 September 2025\. The artist will be able to be present during the production process of the installation and engage in meaningful exchanges with local people.

The selected artist will receive a creative grant of 2,000 EUR, and the production of the installation will be supported with a minimum of 8,000 EUR. Artists are expected to cover all direct production expenses from the budget: materials, construction, drawings, transport, services, installation, and labour. **Travel costs must be covered by the artist either from the grant or personal funds.**
