In my mind I had been wanting to create this piece for awhile now. However I was unsure of how to compose it. So I spent time taking notes from the landscape of my home land  New Zealand, trying to get a foundational basis happening. I would than cut and tear paper, in the shape of the floating islands and stick them to the canvas in order to gain compositions. Certainly some stressful moments, but it turned out to be a gratifying experience and things fell into place customarily. I would like to think my viewers can find a moment of peace in this  pipe dream like environment. Obviously this style of work is undeniably affiliated with the film Avatar. But being born in New Zealand I feel I'm just painting segments from my back yard in a surreal manner.
