This painting in Oil and Acrylic mediums depicts the Karate master  Shigeru Kimura  a master of the Shukokai  Karate Style.  Shukokai means in Japanese  means 'The Way For All'  and in 1965 Master Kimura left Japan to introduce the Shukokai Style to the World, going first to Africa, then Europe and Eventually America.  Shukokai was designed around the study of body mechanics, and it  is very fast due to its relatively high stance aiding mobility is known for the double hip twist, which maximises the force of its strikes; making it one of the most hard-hitting Karate styles.
Shukokai  at the time challenged the status quo of Karate science and shifted the discourse of Karate Martial Arts  through its use of a High forward facing stance rather than the more common sideways stance. Shukokai explored scientifically  alternative structures and inspired change in the practice of Karate and today Shukokai has continued to evolve as a distinctive style with branches throughout the world practicing the Art of  'The Way For All' . 
I was inspired to paint this work to honour the pioneering spirit Of Master Kimura and his challenging of the 'status quo'  to bring about a positive change with a Global Message.
