Since moving to Atlanta in 2021, I have been impressed over and over by the amount of greenery in this urban environment. Much of my artwork is derived from the flowers that I observe right here in the city. This is the inspiration for my 2023 Series, City Greens: A Study on Canvas. This piece depicts a lovely cluster of Cosmos flowers on a crosswalk corner in the Old Fourth Ward Neighborhood of Atlanta. This piece comes framed with a handcrafted wood floater frame.

Last Fall I observed the cutest butterfly fluttering around the last zinnia flower in a front yard garden in East Atlanta Village. These drawings are inspired by that fun encounter. When asked what I the butterfly's named should be, my niece asked "What kind of flower is it on?" After being told the flower was a zinnia flower, she promptly named the butterfly "Azinnia!" Here is Azinnia's third and final adventure as she is joined by a new member of the family.

Also an avid flower gardener, the artist was inspired to paint the beauty of these particular roses from her 2023 summer garden.

A true symbol of the South, the magnolia blossom, beckoned to be painted. Even in the middle of the night, these large flowers seem to reflect the moonlight and highlight the beauty of the region.

What says "The South" more than the Magnolia tree and its giant white flowers? This gorgeous still life depicts a freshly picked bouquet alongside two magnolia blossoms.

This work is part of my ongoing series, City Greens: A Study on Canvas, inspired by my need to connect with nature even while immersed in an urban landscape. I am also deeply committed to protecting our pollinators and believe we can all play a role in saving our pollinators with even just one plant! This painting depicts a scene from a yard I observed in East Atlanta Village last fall. While most of the blooms of summer were dried up and settling in for the change if seasons, one flower remained attracting this gorgeous butterfly flittering about. Handcrafted, walnut stained wood floater frame.
