**Spirit of the Azure Deep** marks a pivotal moment in my practice. For years I worked purely in color field abstraction, but recently figures have begun emerging from within the poured pigments themselves. This ancient sea guardian represents the first piece in my new series exploring these unexpected manifestations.

Working with my usual technique of pouring thinned blues and violets, I watched as this luminous presence seemed to materialize from the color itself. Using charcoal, I gently coaxed its form into visibility—not imposing a figure onto the field, but revealing what was already there waiting to be discovered.

This spectral being flows between states of existence, embodying the evolution happening in my own work. These paintings have become portals where mysterious figures surface from the depths of color itself, expanding the possibilities of what abstraction can hold.
