My Favourite Escape

A rapper who talks about his life through the noble forms of poetry and an electronic producer who expresses his vision of electronic music through melody with a sense of continuous evolution. Like the multi-layered Berlin they can’t express but through music and words.

Both are Soul Wedding, the musical marriage between two deeply troubled souls which takes place in the heart of the most multicultural area of the city of Berlin – the district of Wedding.

They tell in Italian, German and English of a “Mental Disorder” (like the ending title track of the LP) caused by having to express on a daily basis in different languages while having to absorb the forces of a schizophrenic multiplicity, made out of languages ​​and signs of a megalopic reality – but not only.

The mental disorder is especially amazement in front of completely new and unexpected experiences: love, growth, spiritual awareness, the archetype of the Asimovian robot, holistic and faith are expressed through rhymes and linguistic acrobatics that blend almost naturally with complex textures and melodic evolutions.

Electronic, acoustic folk and digital serial meet and explode in advancing of a musical tale that does not return back but almost develops in several different and unexpected shapes. The Soul Wedding duo tears Hip Hop from the raw form in which music is often a frame and takes it to real strong and vital music.

Live performance project on behaviors that tend to establish and disrupt equilibrium conditions.

A woman doubts her fertility. Perhaps she can not procreate. Until now she had not considered the issue. Just that an item does not function to destabilize the whole.

Compensate for the possible absence of a child. Taking care of those who, since he was born, is intended to perish. The ability to not generate another life, another skeleton.

Bones of cow, will be used during the performance as the emblem of the primary nutrients: milk. Meeting between body and former body. The one in the inert substance, the other incapacitated with respect to its natural functions responsible, meet, talk dumb.

Stage’s notes and first director’s notes

A medical nightmare or an ethological dream: something in between.
In ethology, the “k strategy” is the population dynamics based on the ability of adaptation and survival, it is the path of breeding and development that characterizes the mammalian (as characteristics: slow growth rates slow and some skill to create the conditions of equilibrium within their social context).

The bet is to start from a paradoxical subject: a mother turns on his computer, watching a tutorial that explains how to accurately and thoroughly clean and bath “your baby”. On stage she draws the same “parental care” act with the bones of a cow. A short circuit causes the unexpected difference between mimesis and reality.

At the same time we would like to elaborate in an ironic – parodic history of hysteria (one of the most refined and complex paradigms of the mind-body problem), a disease that once believed linked to reproductive problems, reconnecting to the “real ” problem of alleged infertility of the performer on stage and creating an original choreographic score reworking extra-theater sources as ethology, such as Iconographie photographique de la Salpêtrière by doctor Charcot, or even like the thought of Didi_Huberman (especially his “The Invention of hysteria”).

As with our previous research projects, we work on different levels, so continuing the study to get to a “finished” work divided into 3 steps: photo project; video-art work; performance and theatrical work. For the stage performance usually we work in conjunction with a lighting designer and sound engineer.

A Trees Lullaby

The second musical work of Additive doesn’t follow a definite line. With no presumption, it’s placed above any kind of definition and classification of genre. The obsessive research for the groove is abolished by encouraging a continuous and indefinite soundflow. The whole album is based on the research on one side of concrete sounds which, through the sampling process, are transformed into the dense textures of No Way and Madness Draws Magic Axes, on the other hand synthetic sounds are created with digital or virtual synths (Killer Showdown, Hate). The use of the voice brings the tracks close to the song-form without taking any precedence over the whole, but taking action where needed to give momentum and different possibilities of escape. The Shadows Say Goodbye is the album of evasion in the higher and noblest sense, a return to the melody that pushes up touching our most hidden sides.
