I make drawings alongside spacial work. The drawings are figurative by nature and never show human presence. They show a collection of objects connected in unexpected ways.
Every time something seems to happen between them, as a theater set that forms its own subject. The tension is created by the visual connections between these objects (by ropes), while the gaze of the viewer gives the story its course. In a similar way as in my spacial work I invite you to engage in a dialogue and the making of new connections

'Anything that affects an effect is a factor of that effect' is an installation situated in a hotel room as part of the '48 Stunden Neuölln' festival. A window opens onto street level, inviting visitors to step inside the hotel room directly onto the pristine white sheets of an unmade bed.
The contents of the small room rearranged to defy any original purpose. Precariously interconnected with delicate cords, strung tightly to a pulley system, the installation constrains and choreographs visitors, thus absorbing them into a world of a 3D drawing.

The project took place from March 6 to June 6, 2010 at exhibition space Roodkapje in Rotterdam.
During this period I worked daily on four spatial interventions, which developed through a constant dialogue between each other. One part of this project was that I invite a person to give a lecture / presentation about his/her professional / research / fascination / passion about themes that mean a great inspiration for my work and to offer a more broadly understanding of my installation. The space was continuously open to the public.

The group Roger 10-4 consists of Sabrina Basten and Audrey Samson.
Sabrina Basten and Audrey Samson work in different fields of art. Sabrina is mainly working on
spatial installations which deal with the behavior of specific materials and of the visitor in the
space. Audrey is interested in the stories of objects and how they can be told. Together they think of how material can tell a story and how it can interact with its surroundings. Sabrina and Audrey get their inspiration from inner parts of discarded objects. They work from the products of planned obsolescence, re-assembling objects with new functionalities in a DIY fashion. Roger 10-4 has conducted workshops across Europe and aired on Norwegian national news.

Roger10-4 is about understanding how things work, breaking things open, working with the
physical leftovers of planned obsolescence, re-incarnating old components and exploring the body as an antenna. It is also about exploring the hidden world of omnipresent electromagnetic fields. 'Electro-smog' increases exponentially in relation to the growing amount of electronic devices per person. Is it dangerous to our health? Does it leak information? Is it really there? Its intangible nature and the controversy surrounding it make it seem beyond our understanding, mystical.
