"Os mensageiros" is a tribute to Candomblé and Ubanda, religions of African origin rooted in Brazilian culture. In practice, Candomblé does not have saints but entities, which represent different spiritual aspects and have different roles in the construction of the spiritual body, each involving archetypes that translate, for example, the elements of nature or the role of each entity in society and in people's lives. In this picture, I have painted the personification of two entities and a spirit. The first, seated in the center, is Ogun, orisha of the metais, related to war, protection, work, strength and leadership. He opens the paths of the forest for the other orishas who descend to earth. At his side is Pomba Gira, she personifies female sexuality, beauty and desire. She is the consort of Exu, who is the messenger of the Orixas in Candomblé. Known by many names, or avatars, Pombajira is often associated with the number seven, crossroads, graveyards, spirit possession, and witchcraft. Pombagira are human spirits that are in a degree next to Exu and act mainly in the heart and in the mind of those who are in a way to allow it to be imprisoned in their own torments. Pombagira isn’t consort of Exu, she is another group of human spirit that suffered its fall, redeemed and works in the darkness of light in the pursuit of its evolution in the aid of the human beings incarnate. The third figure represents a spirit who is in a transition between both worlds. The mask on the floor represents Exu. Exu spirits primarily deal with human and material matters as opposed to the 'spirits of the right' used in Umbanda, who deal with primarily spiritual matters. He is the messenger.
