Lithuanian Photographers Association in collaboration with VAA Nida Art Colony invite lens-based artists and photographers to apply for an artist residency program in Nida. This residency is also a part of the international photography symposium NIDA. Meeting photography. The aim of it is to reflect on the site-specific ecosystems and the changing boundaries of photography, to actualize photography both as a medium and as a means of expression. The program seeks to attract artists with critical mindset towards using their production tools, questioning the cultural discourse of their practice as well as having strong socio-political mindset. The residency participant is expected to create site specific work, but also, he/she will be able to continue their work in progress if it is somehow can relate to the place. Photography can be used in a very broad sense from its usual use to a material as a matter of creation.
This year we plan to choose two participants for two residency slots in 2024 and 2025.
The authors freely choose the topic, work technique and subject after discussing technical issues with residency providers. Submissions must be photographic or lens-based but can include incorporations of other art forms with the photographic medium (i.e. performance, painting, sculpture etc).
The results of the residency will be presented at the International Photography Symposium NIDA. Meeting Photography in the main program live or remotely. Works created during the residency will be published in the form of a printed publication.
The duration of the residency is one month – May 1 – 31, 2026;
