A residency curated by Cécilia Bracmort  titled Corps céleste, corps terrestre (Celestial Body, Terrestrial Body) centered on the concept of osmosis, viewed as a process of gradual transformation through which beings, materials, and environments mutually influence one another.

Eligibility: Priority is given to artists of African descent, while welcoming anyone whose practice resonates with the themes explored.

Rooted in the curator’s reflections on the Black experience, the residency seeks to question and shift representations of the Black body beyond its strictly physical and social dimensions, particularly when it is reduced to a utilitarian function. It explores what can flourish when a being is no longer constrained by external representations: its presence, memory, energy, spirituality, and relationship to the living world.

This reflection will engage in dialogue with the landscape, the river, nature, and the sky of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. The Perseid meteor shower will mark a highlight of the residency, offering participants the opportunity to share a spiritual moment in communion with nature and the stars, and to reflect on our place within a whole that is greater than ourselves.

The residency will be a space for sharing and exploration, giving artists the opportunity to question their own practices, experiment, and imagine new ways of creating, communicating, and connecting. Open to the visual arts, dance, music, poetry, science, and interdisciplinary practices, it gives priority to artists of African descent, while welcoming anyone whose practice resonates with the
questions raised.

Residency periods:

Spring: April 19 to June 11, 2027
Summer*: July 5 to August 27, 2027
Fall : September 27 to November 19, 2027
Winter: January 24 to March 18, 2028

Expectations towards the artists:

• To make full use of the residency period offered for his/her research

• To be present during the entire residency period

• To present his/her approach and research interests at the beginning of the residency at a public event organized by ENE

• To present his/her research and experiments carried out during the residency at a public event organized by ENE at the end of the residency period

• OPTIONAL : To propose a workshop for a youth or community organization in the region (an additional honorarium of $300 is offered to artists whose workshop proposal is selected)
