The Hamburg Portfolio Review (HPR) has become a key platform for emerging photographers and contemporary visual storytellers. Its mission is to connect the international photography community, foster collaborations, and spark dialogue around current photographic, social, and political issues. Each year, a jury selects 100 outstanding photographers to take part.
Selected photographers will have the opportunity to present their work to leading international experts from across the photography industry. The reviews are conducted virtually, with each participant meeting one-on-one with up to 4 out of more than 50 professionals representing a wide range of sectors. In addition, selected portfolios will be showcased in exhibitions in Hamburg.
HPR is committed to giving a voice to aspiring photographers and offering visibility to their work by facilitating connections with publishers, media outlets, museums, festivals, foundations, universities, and institutions.
There are no restrictions on genre, though the focus is on narrative photography rather than commercial or advertising imagery.
