We are now accepting applications for the Toyooka Theatre Festival 2026 Fringe Program.
This year, the information has been released on the earliest schedule ever. With society undergoing rapid change and creative environments facing expression, we hope that this information reaches you as soon as possible.
The performing arts industry is facing tough practical challenges, including rising production costs, the loss of bases, and a decline in performers. But at the same time, new methods, new locations, and new relationships are also emerging. The history of performing arts has been rewritten by a series of individuals and small groups. Continuing this progress is both a challenge and a hope for all of us.
Toyooka does not have an abundance of what are considered ideal venues.
However, shrines, churches, airports, financial institutions, vacant houses, shopping districts, university classrooms, campsites, and even seaside and mountain villages have all served as stages. Performances at the Genbudo Cave Global Geopark and attempts to foster new performing arts in the region both began as fringe events.
