MINORIA — METAXIA | International Contemporary Art Open Call — Venice 2026
A Space Gallery invites international artists to participate in MINORIA — METAXIA, a curated contemporary art exhibition taking place on 21–22 November 2026 in the historic Castello district of Venice, Italy.
Conceived and curated by Monika Turczyńska, METAXIA explores the relationships that emerge between distinct artistic positions — between proximity and distance, tension and resonance, material and perception.
Rather than seeking works that illustrate a predetermined theme, the exhibition brings together independent artistic languages, allowing each work to retain its autonomy while contributing to a wider dialogue.
An international curatorial programme
MINORIA is an evolving international curatorial programme developed throughout 2026 through successive artistic presentations in Venice and Chicago, with a further chapter planned for CONTEXT Art Miami in December 2026.
Rooted in the idea of the space between, MINORIA investigates how artistic meaning emerges through relationships, differences and encounters. Each exhibition introduces a new chapter in this continuing exploration.
Venice — the closing weekend of Biennale Arte 2026
METAXIA coincides with the closing weekend of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. Presented independently at A Space Gallery, the exhibition contributes its own curatorial perspective to Venice's international contemporary art landscape.
Who can participate?
The open call welcomes emerging and established artists aged 18 and over from around the world, working across contemporary visual art practices.
Artists may submit up to three works for curatorial consideration. Selection is based on artistic quality, originality and the potential of each work to contribute to the exhibition's conceptual framework.
Selected artists pay no additional exhibition, gallery space or curatorial fees. The application fee is €35. Artists are responsible for arranging and covering the transport of their works to and from Venice.
MINORIA — METAXIA is an invitation to encounter difference — and to discover the possibilities that emerge in the space between.
