open call: curatorial project 2025
Call to help the commissioners to develop an exposition project in 2025!
This call aims to support curators in developing an exhibition project to be held in Tabakalera's 2 exhibition hall at the beginning of 2026.
The month-long residency will provide space, context, and time for the development of the curatorial project in the form of an exhibition. The selected curator will be able to develop the proposal during the residency that will take place in March 2025.
One proposal will be chosen from among all the projects submitted during the open call.
This call is open to all natural persons or legal entities linked to the Basque artistic scene and who contribute to the artistic and cultural fabric of the Basque Country. Groups will not be accepted.
The residency will take place on the Tabakalera premises in San Sebastián and includes the following resources:
- Accommodation + Workspace with WiFi
- Return ticket from residence or 500€ transport grant
- 1000€ per month per diem monthly,
- 9000€ production budget + assistance/support
Registration must be carried out through the Tabakalera website by completing the online form and attaching the following documentation in the order set out below:
- Contact details: name, surname(s), address, e-mail, contact telephone number, date of birth. One person shall be assigned in this category as a representative for the selected project.
- An explanation of the project and the reason why the candidate wants to undertake this particular stage of the project to be worked on during the residency at Tabakalera (between 500 and 1000 words).
- Graphic and other material that helps illustrate the project.
- Budget and approximate needs for the exhibition project.
- Submission of a plan with requirements and an estimated timetable of the work to be carried out during the residency.
- A CV and short biography or history of the collective, whichever is appropriate (500 words).
All documentation must be attached in one single PDF document (max. 10 MB and 10 pages). The file name should be: surname_name_category; for example: sara_zudaire_curatorial.
All documentation must be submitted in Basque, Spanish or English. Where Basque or Spanish is used, applicants must also attach a short summary in English. Otherwise, the panel of judges reserves the right to reject the project submitted.
Where the successful applicant is a collective, said document should refer to all persons involved.
