This Request for Proposals (RFP) is intended to engage emerging or established artists or artist teams through an open process that invites and maximizes creativity. The art project is for a site-specific mural on the vertical surfaces of the Lucchesi Skatepark once constructed. There is not a pre-determined theme, however, the PPAC seeks artworks with the following considerations through this commission program:
Maintain a coherent style and evoke feelings of active fun
Possess multi-layered meanings, beauty, and other compelling attributes
Be appropriate for a public space and visible to all persons
Be durable, safe, and low maintenance
Consider the skate community and culture in project design
Provide opportunity to underserved and emerging artists
PROJECT LOCATION
The Lucchesi Skatepark Mural Commission RFP is for a site-specific mural design for the vertical walls of the Lucchesi Skatepark Project. The 23,000 square foot project in Lucchesi Park will be located in the unprogrammed area near Novak Drive, bounded by the baseball field, soccer field, Boys & Girls Club, and tennis courts. This project will be on the 335 square feet of vertical walls of the skatepark design.
