The City of Charlottetown invites professional artists and artist teams from across Canada to apply for a public mural commission at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre (CLLC), located at 97 Queen Street.
This opportunity will result in a site-specific mural painted on aluminum panels installed on the exterior retaining wall of the library, wrapping from Queen Street around the corner to Sydney Street. The City of Charlottetown will cover the cost of purchasing and installing the aluminum panels, which will be added to the site prior to painting the mural.
There is no theme for this call; artists are encouraged to respond creatively to the site and its connection to the community. The mural is expected to be installed and painted on site in the Summer or Fall of 2026 and will remain on public display for 5–10 years.
This commission will be awarded through a two-stage, open selection process. Artists first submit an expression of interest, including examples of past work and a letter of intent. Up to three shortlisted artists or teams will be invited to develop a detailed design proposal and will be paid an honorarium to do so.
