The Studios of Key West invites exhibition proposals for its 2026–27 season. Located in a historic Art Deco building in the heart of Old Town, The Studios presents nearly 30 exhibitions annually across four distinct gallery spaces, engaging a wide audience of residents and visitors.
We are seeking artists and curators producing thoughtful, conceptually strong work. Proposals may be for solo or group exhibitions and should demonstrate a clear vision, cohesion, and an awareness of how the work will engage with both space and audience.
Our exhibitions program prioritizes artistic excellence, originality, and work that contributes to meaningful dialogue. We encourage proposals for projects that may not otherwise find a venue in Key West, as well as work that responds to place, community, or contemporary issues. While artwork is often available for sale, exhibitions are not commercially driven; selection is based on overall strength and fit.
Exhibitions are typically on view for 3–4 weeks and open during our monthly First Thursday events. With four galleries—Sanger, XOJ, Zabar Project, and Zabar Lobby—The Studios supports a range of exhibition formats, from large-scale presentations to experimental or installation-based work. The Sanger Gallery, our primary exhibition space, is highly competitive, particularly during peak season (January–April), and is generally suited for mid-career artists or curated group exhibitions.
Submissions are reviewed through a competitive process. We encourage applicants to submit proposals that are clear, cohesive, and thoughtfully tailored to our spaces.
