In 2025, OffBeat ran the UK’s first ever film festival dedicated to the folk, heritage and working culture in Britain. We screened nearly 50 films at 6 venues, over 11 events in a week in May. 2026 is going to be even bigger and better. Along with film, we’ve set up the OffBeat Art Club where we will be exhibiting art work looking at similar themes.
This is the second year we are running the OffBeat Folk Film Festival, the first festival of its kind in the world! If you want to submit a film about British folk, heritage, traditional or working culture then follow the link in our bio and head over to our website where you can submit any number of films you like! We welcome emerging and established filmmakers to apply and are looking for documentary, narrative, experimental or music videos that take a closer look at the lesser known aspects of British culture. This could be a film about the Mari Lywd to a profile of your local pub. If you’ve been to one of our screenings in Walthamstow you know we love archival documentaries, so we welcome old films as well as new.
