Open Nights Festival is an interdisciplinary arts festival in Central Greece, bringing together international visual and performing artists through exhibitions, performances, workshops, talks, and residencies. The festival fosters cross-disciplinary dialogue and active engagement between the arts, the city of Larissa, and the wider social context.
The OPEN NIGHTS Festival invites professional visual artists, performers, writers, film makers, or other creative individuals and groups, to submit proposals for participation in its upcoming 11th edition, exploring the theme of FIRE. Fire is not merely a chemical phenomenon.
It is a “process” with biochemical, ecological, mythological, and cultural dimensions.
It emerges from life and returns to it, breaking down what photosynthesis creates.
It has been a decisive means of survival that has shaped human evolution, a symbol of life and death, purification, fertility, and punishment; a force of destruction but also of renewal of ecosystems. Among all phenomena, it is the only one in which the opposing concepts of good and evil coexist. It illuminates Paradise. It burns Hell. It is gentleness and pain. It is nourishment and revelation.
In the 11th edition, we focus on the physical, spiritual, and symbolic dimensions of fire, as well as on contemporary artistic creation that explores its fluid and ever-changing form.
Let's join together to redefine the boundaries of art, thought and human connection.
