Managed by its permanent resident artists, La Station's objective is to support and disseminate contemporary cultural and artistic life in Nice by all means and in all forms.
An experimental structure, La Station has always organized exhibitions based not on a curatorial directive, but on an encounter of practices, and this essentially because it is an association of artists.
As an artist's residence, La Station is a structure for hosting but also for accompanying, advising and supporting artists. Working thanks to the pooling of the skills of its protagonists as well as the support of the communities and the State, La Station offers workshop spaces where the artist-residents find a place of production favoring the maturation, the autonomy and the identity of their personal work.
La Station has always been a place where local and international dynamics coexist. Its long-term residencies favor artists living and working in Nice, while its exhibitions offer visitors a look at contemporary artistic creation in France and elsewhere.
By offering artists the opportunity to come and work on a one-time basis in its premises, La Station gives them the chance to share in the collective experience that supports its project. The resident becomes, for four months, a full member of the structure: he or she must adhere to the associative spirit and be sensitive to the values of the artist-run space: exchange, dialogue, living together, mutual aid, solidarity.
La Station's residencies are financed by the DRAC PACA and are governed by the circular n° MCCD1601967C of the Ministry of Culture.
Professional artists residing in Europe, engaged in a contemporary creation process; working in the field of visual and/or sound arts, wishing to produce new works or to pursue their artistic research in an atypical framework, that of the artist-run space. A certain appetite for sharing, domesticity and collective experience is recommended to take advantage of this residency time; artists with a strong need for calm and/or solitude will not find the conditions favorable to their creativity here.
