Thirdplat’s October 2026 Open Call invites artists, writers, makers and interdisciplinary creators from around the world to respond to the theme SOMETHING NEW.
This theme is not simply a celebration of novelty. It asks a more personal and urgent question: when something new enters our lives, what does it change?
The “new” may be a place, relationship, technology, loss, habit, identity or way of seeing. It may arrive quietly or suddenly, but it often leaves a lasting trace. At a time when pandemics have changed human distance, displacement has turned home into a portable memory, climate change is reshaping familiar landscapes, and artificial intelligence is redefining authorship, we invite creators to reflect on one new presence in their life, community or practice.
We welcome moving image, photography, writing, craft, sound, performance and cross-disciplinary work. Responses may be personal, social, documentary, fictional or experimental, provided that they engage clearly and thoughtfully with the theme.
Thirdplat is an open online platform rather than a conventional competition or juried exhibition. Original and respectful submissions are published directly as part of the October 2026 online exhibition, allowing audiences to discover different artistic responses to the same theme. Published works will also remain within Thirdplat’s growing cultural archive.
Show us what entered your world, what it changed and what it left behind.
