As part of the Bicentenary of the invention of Photography, the City of Melun is launching a call for applications from a photographer or a collective aiming to examine the changes in photographic practices in the digital age and artificial intelligence with a view to an exhibition at Espace Saint-Jean and a projection on the facade of the Administrative City.
This promotion of photographic work will integrate a multidisciplinary and heritage program from September 2026 to June 2027, in close connection with all municipal cultural facilities: Municipal Archives, network of media libraries, Espace SaintJean, Archaeological Service, LUMEN and Municipal Museum of Art and History.
The expected creative direction
The artistic approach will need to question and explore the contemporary changes in photographic practices in the digital age and artificial intelligence.
The projects may, in particular, address the following questions:
the transformations of photographic practices,
new visual forms of writing and hybridizations of media,
the uses and impacts of digital technology,
the role of artificial intelligence in creation,
the evolution of methods of image dissemination and reception.
Note that experimental, transdisciplinary , and innovative approaches are encouraged.
