As part of its programme of temporary exhibitions, La Manufacture is organising the 5th Objet Textile biennial, consisting of a call for entries in 2025, followed by an exhibition in 2026.
It offers visitors a chance to encounter contemporary textile design in all its richness and diversity. Each artist selected will have the same defined space in which to present an existing work or one produced for the occasion, and so share their unique universe with the public.
The theme of this year’s exhibition is Matière Matters.
Textiles are constantly evolving. Engineers, artists, designers and craftspeople are constantly developing, experimenting with and testing new materials, or redeveloping age-old natural materials. With the aim of creating reasonable and sustainable products, textiles are reinventing themselves, between a return to their roots and innovation, between organic materials and technical fabrics, between flexible and rigid textiles – many materials are creating today’s textiles.
This theme allows the public to discover the infinite applications of materials in textiles: natural or organic fibres, synthetic fibres, as well as fibres made of earth, glass, iron, etc., thus offering a panorama of contemporary textile creation.
