Overview

We are an international celebration of arts, nature, music, community and life set in the lake and forests of Garbicz, Poland. Founded together with the Holzmarkt Collective in Berlin, we have evolved into one of the most sophisticated and best known annual festivals in the world.

OUR CHALLENGE?

Transforming the culture of waste and disconnection from nature that pervades our celebrations.

Our planet is at a tipping point and we must go green. The aftermath of festivals often mirrors the broader issue of environmental neglect. Abandoned tents, plastic waste, and the carbon footprint of mass gatherings paint a grim picture.

OUR RESPONSE? We’re launching the Garbicz Artist-in-Residence (AiR) program in July 2024.

We’re creating solutions for how to make festival art more sustainable. We also repurpose festival remnants into captivating art, turning waste into wonder and fostering a deeper bond with the Earth. This is where creativity becomes our most potent tool for change, inspiring a sustainable, more connected future. We’re seeking four artists up to the task of saving our party and create works for the Garbicz Festival which takes place on 31 July to 5 August, 2024.

THE PITCH

Back to the Wild:

Sustainability+ Regeneration + Action

This is your call to highlight what it means to be human. We were born naked, born to be part of nature, not separate from it. We are nature.

How can we coexist with nature?

What does it mean to be unnatural - how can we create art and spaces that compliment and support nature?
