Overview

The Downtown Glendale Historical Mural Campaign is a project involving multiple businesses and locations in Downtown Glendale. The Campaign is multi-purposed: A) To honor significant moments in Glendale's unique history, B) To correlate these moments with the businesses that are working with the City of Glendale on this campaign, so that the moments are thematic to each business, and C) to continue our beautification efforts to make Downtown Glendale a Clean, Safe, and Beautiful location for residents and visitors alike.

The current call for artists is for the Valley Aesthetics Wellness Center at the corner of 57th and Glendale Avenue. The City's Office of Arts and Culture is accepting applications for an artist to design and fabricate a mural at this location. This mural will honor significant moments in Glendale's medical and/or wellness history. Some concept examples can include, but are not limited to: A) a timeline-theme (the early days of medical care in Glendale beginning in 1892, with general practitioners travelling to homes, progressing to current-day medical centers), B) Glendale's first hospital in 1960, to the newest hospitals), C) significant medical or wellness achievements from practitioners in the Valley, etc. etc.

One artist will be selected to design and fabricate a mural at this location with the medical and/or wellness theme as described above. The total, not-to-exceed amount of this mural is $9900. Artists will be responsible for all scheduling, supplies, and materials. All artists living and working in Arizona are welcome to apply.
