rituals of becoming: open call for jewelry artists

Unpolished is looking for jewelry artists with strong ties to Belgium to showcase their work in Unpolished’s very first exhibition. The exhibition will take place as part of Current Obsession’s Obsessed! Festival — a vibrant gathering for jewelry lovers and curious minds from Belgium and the Netherlands. In line with our manifesto, all participating artists will receive a fair artist fee.

When?

The exhibition will be part of the Obsessed! Festival, organized by Current Obsession, which takes place in Antwerp from Friday 21/11 until Sunday 23/11. The build-up will take place in the morning of November 21.

Every day, we shape and reshape who we are. Identity is not fixed, but fluid — formed through gestures, routines, relationships, and transitions. In Rituals of Becoming, we explore how jewelry and body adornment can give form to these moments of transformation.

We are looking for jewellery artists, designers, makers and interdisciplinary practitioners whose work engages with the idea of becoming—not as a linear path, but as something layered, uncertain, and ongoing. This exhibition will bring together works that reflect on how the act of making or wearing jewellery can accompany personal or collective rituals of change.
