MY ART ROOM invites emerging and established artists from around the world to apply for our May 2027 International Artist Residency in Riga, Latvia.

The residency will take place throughout May 2027, with flexible participation options ranging from one week to one month. Artists may choose the duration that best suits their practice, project, and availability.

ABOUT MY ART ROOM @myartroom.residence

Located in the centre of Riga, MY ART ROOM is an independent international art space dedicated to artistic practice, education, cultural exchange, and professional development.

Created as a meeting point for artists, educators, and creative professionals, MY ART ROOM brings together studio practice, workshops, mentoring, exhibitions, life drawing, and an evolving international creative community.

Our residency is designed to offer more than simply a place to work. We provide artists with the time and space to concentrate on their practice while creating opportunities for professional feedback, experimentation, dialogue, and exchange.

We intentionally keep the residency environment personal and focused, allowing us to engage closely with each resident and their individual artistic practice.

THE RESIDENCY EXPERIENCE

Residents receive dedicated workspace with priority studio access and can develop an existing project, begin a new body of work, conduct artistic research, or use their time in Riga for experimentation and exploration.

Depending on the duration of the residency, the programme includes:

• Dedicated workspace and priority studio access
• Individual portfolio reviews
• Group mentoring sessions
• Life drawing sessions with professional models
• Basic art materials
• Residency events and community activities
• Opportunities for artistic and professional exchange
• Professional support throughout the residency

MY ART ROOM also hosts drawing, painting, and plein-air programmes focused on observation, colour, figurative practice, anatomy, and the development of an individual artistic language.

The programme is enriched through collaborations with artists, educators, academics, and guest speakers from different areas of contemporary art and culture.

OPEN STUDIO / EXHIBITION & VISIBILITY

Artists participating in the full one-month residency will have the opportunity to present work developed during their stay through a final Open Studio / Exhibition at MY ART ROOM at the end of May 2027.

Selected works will also be professionally presented through our final sales mailing and collector outreach, extending the visibility of participating artists beyond the residency and introducing their work to a wider professional audience.

WHY RIGA?

Riga offers a distinctive setting for artistic research and production.

The city brings together historic architecture, Baltic culture and landscape, a developing contemporary art scene, and a rich visual environment. Its relatively intimate scale allows residents to experience the city directly and become temporarily immersed in its cultural life rather than simply visiting as tourists.

May is also an especially inspiring period to experience Riga, as the city transitions into the long days and changing light of the Baltic spring.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The residency is open to international emerging and established artists.

We particularly welcome artists working with painting, drawing, figurative practices, and interdisciplinary approaches, while remaining open to a broader range of contemporary visual art practices that can be accommodated within our studio.

We are interested in artists who demonstrate curiosity, artistic commitment, openness to dialogue, and a desire to develop their practice within an international environment.

Longer residencies provide more time for sustained studio practice and access to the complete programme of mentoring and professional development activities.

The full one-month residency offers the most comprehensive MY ART ROOM experience and culminates in the final Open Studio / Exhibition and professional presentation of selected works.

Our aim is for every resident to leave Riga not only with new work, but also with new perspectives, meaningful connections, and an artistic experience that continues beyond their time at MY ART ROOM.
