culture moves europe: circolando residency

In its genesis, the European Union aims to promote the integration and economic convergence between States and regions. However, we continue to be unable to move away from the “centre-periphery” paradigm, especially in the cultural dimension. We wish to reorder the recurring status quo, moving towards territories seen as “peripheral”, trying to conceive future ways of life based on interdisciplinarity, and creative and sustainable thinking.

We are calling for individual artists from the Western Balkans to develop an artistic residency in our spaces in Porto, Portugal. The concepts surrounding this call invite the parties to discover new working and cooperation relationships. We will explore, create, transform, share practices, reflect on otherness, and promote young artists.

In this open call, we will select 03 (three) residency projects, exclusively from artists from the Western Balkans designated above, to be developed presentially in Central Elétrica, in Porto, Portugal, between 28 June to 29 July 2024, including informal public presentations by the end of the residency period.

Each selected artist can count on rehearsal space, artistic consultancy, financial support, flights, accommodation and expendables. The residency and the final presentation will take place in Central Elétrica, located in CACE Cultural do Porto, Portugal.
