Yadkin Arts Council 2023 Juried Exhibition Prospectus

The Yadkin Arts Council, located in the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center at 226 East Main Street in Yadkinville, NC is pleased to announce our 2023 Juried Art Exhibition. This exhibition, to be featured collectively in the Welborn Gallery and Red Wall Gallery, is a celebration of some of the finest creativity in North Carolina. Eligibility for entry is open to 2D and 3D Fine Art artists that are a minimum of 18 years of age and reside in North Carolina. There will be $3,500 in combined prizes awarded to the best artists!

Important Dates

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: June 11, 2023 (by midnight)

JURY PROCESS: June 12-14, 2023

ACCEPTANCE/REJECTION ANNOUNCEMENT: Via email by 5pm on June 16, 2023

DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED ARTWORK: June 26-June 29, 2023 (by appointment 9:30am-4pm)

OPENING RECEPTION/AWARDS CEREMONY: July 14, 2023 (5-7pm)

EXHIBIT DATES: July 14-September 1, 2023

PICKUP OF UNSOLD ARTWORK: September 5, 2023

Specifications

  • Artists may submit up to two original works of art for consideration. If the artist is chosen to exhibit in this show, only one of their two submitted pieces may be selected. Submitted art must not have been shown previously at the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center.

  • Only original works of art (no reproductions) produced within the past three years will be accepted in the following mediums: painting, pastel, drawing, sculpture, ceramic, glass, photography, fiber arts, original hand-pulled prints, jewelry, weaving, basketry, marquetry, wood, mixed media, and digital

  • All works to be hung must be professionally framed (or gallery wrapped) and securely wired, and if subject to damage must be framed under plexiglass or glass. No Sawtooth or clip mounting will be accepted. Please note that our gallery features a wire hanging system that will be utilized for this exhibit and all wall hanging pieces must be able to work with this system.

  • Three-Dimensional work must sit solidly on a flat surface or be properly mounted for hanging. Wall hanging pieces must not exceed 40 inches in width (including frames), nor weigh more than 40lbs. Any 3D pieces that require a pedestal provided by the Welborn Gallery must be able to be placed on a base that is no bigger than 24 inches by 15 inches. Any artist supplied pedestals or freestanding pieces must not exceed 40 inches in width or 24 inches in depth and must stand securely on their own.

  • Two-Dimensional pieces should not exceed 40 inches in width or 60 inches in height (including frame) and must weigh no more than 40lbs.

  • It will be up to the jurors’ discretion as to whether or not to reject pieces that exceed these guidelines. Please call in advance if you have questions before submitting your piece. No refunds will be given after submission.

  • All Entries must be for sale (75% of sale price will go to artist with a 25% commission being retained by the Yadkin Arts Council), and all work must remain hanging until the end of show. No early withdrawals.

Submission Checklist

  • Read entire prospectus before registering/submission
  • Complete the official entry form and follow guidelines for payment located on CAFÉ
  • Submit one hiqh-quality JPEG image that clearly displays your work for each entry.
  • Include a short artist biography.
  • Complete entry must be received by midnight on Deadline for Entry Date.
  • All entries will be notified by email regardless of whether or not the entry was accepted.
  • Accepted works may be hand-delivered or shipped by the artist.
  • Remember to include a prepaid return shipping label if you are shipping your artwork.
  • Each accepted piece of artwork must be labeled with Artist Name, Address, Phone, Email, Title, Medium, and Retail Price (Retail Price should include 25% Yadkin Arts Council commission).
  • All pieces must be for sale – no inflated pricing please.

Entry Fees

All entry fees are non-refundable. $40 – Entry fee covers the option to submit up to two pieces of art per artist. Please note that entering this competition and paying an entry fee does NOT guarantee that your work will be accepted. No refunds will be given. If you are chosen to exhibit in this show, up to only one of your entered pieces will be accepted due to space limitations.

Sales

The Yadkin Arts Council will retain 25% commission of all sales during this exhibition. Payment from sales will be made to the artist within 30 days after the close of the exhibit.

Not All entries will be chosen to display in this exhibit. No Refunds will be given if your work is not selected. The Yadkin Arts Council reserves the right to refuse any work that does not comply with all specifications or differs greatly from submitted digital images. Your electronically submitted entry form signifies your agreement with the terms and conditions stated herein, including permission to the Yadkin Arts Council to use accepted entries for advertising purposes.

Return of Art

We are very limited on space, so any art not picked up by the deadline will remain the property of the Yadkin Arts Council unless other arrangements have been agreed upon in advance. Artwork that is shipped must include a prepaid return shipping label. Artists will be notified by email when return shipping has been picked up by the shipping company.
